Wild Wood Pen Company was founded in Howell, Michigan in 2002 . The "Wild Wood" name comes from my aunt, a 2nd generation turner who started making and selling wood pens in 1988 under the name “Wild Wood”. Her sign still hangs in my shop and I take it to the occasional Art show. She taught my dad how to turn and make pens in the 90's. My dad passed his vast knowledge of wood and woodturning on to me as well as the tricks he learned along the way.
The name tells you we make Wooden pens but that’s really only the beginning. We make pens from the finest wood and wood burls from around the world, Wood mixed with amazing pearlescent acrylics, Acrylic, and exotic items like snakeskin or Alligator Jawbone. Each piece of wood is hand selected, drilled, and turned on a lathe. We spray many coats of a clear finish similar to what you would find on a hardwood floor, then polish to a glass like finish.
The platings on our pens are mostly made from Rhodium, gold Titanium, and black Titanium. These platings won’t wear off or scratch after many years of daily use like the gold and enamel plated pens do. I want the receiver of my pens to be proud of it and thankful of the giver for a lifetime.
We make many custom pens for organizations and companies alike. I’ve personally worked with hundreds of companies to create a custom solution for appreciation gifts. We can laser engrave the pen, or box, or use woods from specific areas of the country or world.
